Spent a rewarding day discovering lost roads, flagging them and doing a bit of clearing. CSF has a lot to offer, it's a shame that there is no good map or trail maintenance. There's the abandonded town of Catamount Hill, the schoolhouse marker and flag, the lake and the mountain, with lots of good tromping to be had. I've been spending time uncovering trails and clearing them. We've got a date of July 18th for a larger partee (you ARE invited) to clear the way to Pocumtuck Mountain.

All pics by friend who did the hike with me but doesn't ski.

Headed up to do some skiing with Austin, drove up the night before and stayed at my place up there so we wouldn't actually have to get up at 4am to go skiing (and then drive 4 hours on top of that). After getting a good night's rest we headed up to Mount Washington. Met up with GPetrics and Allen then headed up to the top. Me and Austin decided to take a warm up on the East Snowfields since I hadn't been on skis...

I had the Pork, my wife (Candace) had the Brisket. Very tasty (beers were good too, especially the stout). Left the Holiday Inn Express (free room using points) at around 7:00 am, went to Hannaford to get lunch meats, and got on the trail at Pinkham Notch by 8:00.

As we pulled in the access road it was obvious that they lost a lot in 2 weeks. They could not open the top even with a little help.

Steins was the run with the Valley House double. I forgot how long that walk is up to the VH lodge. Steins had large soft bumps expcept for a 100 yard patch of brown snow. We hammered it for 3 hours before the long drive...

Tuckerman Ravine
Wet Corn, overcast skies, fog and a bit of drizzle

I got hooked on Tuckerman Ravine the first time I went 6 years ago. There is something magical about this place, and it really drew me in. Until this year, I've been incredibly lucky by Mount Washington's standards in that I've enjoyed bluebird skies on all but one of my treks up the mountain. This year was not one of the best as the weather didn't quite cooperate as it had for me in the past, but...
