*2XU Comp Women's Tri Singlet*

Image: http://www.backcountry.com/images/items/medium/TXU/TXU0218/BLA.jpg
If you're swimming in a running top, you might has well be swimming in a hoodie, and if you're running in a cycling jersey, you might as well be running in a garbage bag. We can go even further, but we only want to demonstrate that this ideology extends across the full gamut of using the wrong tool for the job. And in this case, the job is triathlon. Simply put, you need a top with equal benefits across the swim, ride, and run. Basically, you need a top like the *2XU Comp Women's Tri Singlet*.
2XU approached the Comp Tri Singlet with a deliberately even focus across all three disciplines of triathlon. Think about that. What fabric performs equally across the board? Well, the answer came in the form of development, and from this, the 70D elastane, SBR Skin X fabric was born. We know, we're not fans of titles filled with seemingly arbitrary numbers and letters, either. So, let's make some sense of this fabric. Basically, the '70D' stands for 70 denier. What's a denier? Simply put, a denier is a unit of measure for the weight of a fabric. Technically speaking, it measures a fabric's grams-per-9000-meters. And while a typical recovery compression piece features a material choice around 200 deniers and up, the Tri Singlet uses a lighter, less constricting 70 denier fabric. This means that you still receive a lightly focused graduated compression, but the most direct gains are made through limiting muscle oscillation. So, whether you're getting slapped by wakes, getting rattled in the saddle, or pummeled by your pounding on the pavement, the SBR Skin X fabric provides an enhanced level of muscle support that will minimize fatigue.
And while this design feature complements all of the triathlon disciplines, Skin X still includes technical aspects to increase efficiency in the water and on the land. Starting with the water aspects, Skin X possesses hydrophobic properties. If your Latin is a little rusty, this means that the material is capable of repelling water during the swim. In fact, the fabric minimizes water retention, which also translates to an a reduction in hydrodynamic and accelerate drag. But, you're probably wondering how this is possible? Well, this material is constructed from a high-density, hydrophobic blend of polyamide and Lycra. This means that the material's composition is tightly bound and provides a next-to-skin fit. However, 2XU ensured that the flexibility wasn't to be a lost attribute. Instead, the fabric incorporates a four-way stretch system that allows a full range of movement, while retaining its targeted compressive qualities. Additionally, 2XU used a multi-panel, anatomic construction to further accentuate your comfort.
Furthering your dryness, 2XU included side panels that are constructed from its highly breathable and stretchable Sensor Mesh X fabric. And for further comfort, the Comp Tri Singlet features a complete flatlock seam construction. So, you won't experience anymore pinching or painful rubbing your torso. The Singlet also includes two rear pockets to house your nutrition on race day.
The *2XU Comp Women's Tri Singlet* is available in five sizes from X-Small to X-Large and in the colors Black/black, Bright Emerald/aquamarine, Cornflower Blue/coastal blue, White/white, and Indigo/blister pink.

Price: $26.99 (68% Off!)
Regularly: $84.95

*Pearl Izumi Elite Reverse Jacket - Men's*

Image: http://www.backcountry.com/images/items/medium/PLZ/PLZ0991/BLAYEL.jpg
The Pearl Izumi Elite Reverse Jacket is about as versatile as they come. This water-resistant, breathable, stretch jacket provides plenty of protection for rides where the weather is less than pleasant. It also offers the subtle, classic style that you expect from Pearl Izumi. That is, until dusk. When the light falls off in the evening, you can flip the Elite Reverse Jacket around so that its bright yellow side faces traffic, making you much more visible.

The Elite Barrier Jacket provides you with the optimum amount of wind and water protection while still offering a breathable, supple fabric. The simple, form-fitted cut keeps it close to your torso -- there's no parachute effect with this jacket. The full front zipper has a draft flap that runs its length, ensuring fantastic protection from those cold winds. Affording the same protection from penetrating chills, the hem and cuffs are elasticized to fit snugly against your body. And since cold days are often dark days, an abundance of reflective elements have been included to keep you visible in low light.

Pearl Izumi used flatlock seams in the Elite's construction to reduce chafing and irritation if you choose to wear the jacket without a base layer. A single zippered security pocket holds your keys or your phone, so you'll have quick, easy access to the essentials.

The Pearl Izumi Elite Reverse Jacket is available in Black/black and True Red/black. It comes in sizes Small through XX-Large.

Price: $54.99 (68% Off!)

*2XU Long Distance Women's Trisuit*

Image: http://www.backcountry.com/images/items/medium/TXU/TXU0214/BLA.jpg
Have you ever thought about the amount of exposure that you receive over the course of a triathlon? No, not exposure of the red carpet variety. We're talking about the detrimental effects of the sun on your skin temperature. These lead to a rise in your temperature, and thus a rise in perspiration. And the more that you uncontrollably sweat, the closer that you are to bonk town. Lucky for you, *2XU* has not only addressed this problem with its *Long Distance Women's Trisuit*, but it's basically solved it.
So, you might be asking yourself what gives this suit the 'long distance' designation when compared to 2XU's other trisuit offerings? Well, while you still retain retain 2XU's hallmark compressive efforts, the primary composition of the Long Distance is made from the ICE X fabric. This material takes a twofold approach to endurance, starting with its yarn being embedded with Xylitol. Yes, the sugar substitute. And like its application in gum, your skin will receive a cooling rush when ICE X is confronted with perspiration. Basically, the material operates as a refrigerant that rapidly evaporates moisture, then converting it into cool air. So, the fabric counteracts heat by utilizing its byproduct -- kind of like physiological recycling. Additionally, the second approach to endurance is the material's IR blocking properties. This means that infrared light is largely blocked from penetrating the skin. What's infrared? Infrared light is the most predominant form of radiation from the sun's sea-level irradiance. Basically, IR transfers around 16% more heat to the body than visible light. So, limiting your skin's exposure to this energy minimizes spikes in your skin temperature. In fact, 2XU claims that ICE X will actually lower your skin temperature up to 5.4 degrees Fahrenheit.
Specifically placed panels of the Trisuit have also been constructed from 2XU's 70D Kinetic Speed fabric. Basically, the '70D' stands for 70 denier. What's a denier? Simply put, a denier is a unit of measure for the weight of a fabric. Technically speaking, it measures a fabric's grams-per-9000-meters. And while a typical recovery compression piece features a material choice around 200 deniers and up, the Trisuit uses a lighter, less constricting 70 denier fabric. This means that you still receive a lightly focused graduated compression, but the most direct gains are made through limiting muscle oscillation. So, whether you're getting slapped by wakes, getting rattled in the saddle, or pummeled by your pounding on the pavement, the Kinetic Speed fabric provides an enhanced level of muscle support that will minimize fatigue. Additionally, this material utilizes 2XU's turbulent airflow technology in order to minimize drag while you're in the saddle.
For the chamois, the Trisuit features 2XU's Elite LD insert. Developed specifically for triathlon, the Elite LD uses a thin, yet ample, 3mm variable density padding. This design provides the necessary support while in the saddle, but it won't become irritable over the course of your swim or run. In fact, 2XU selected this chamois because of its impressive ventilation and quick-drying characteristics.
To ensure the Trisuit's fit, 2XU placed its own non-abrasive, elastic leg grippers. Entry and exit of the suit is handled by a 3/4 length front, semi-autolock front zipper, and nutrition storage is made possible by three rear pockets. For further comfort, the Long Distance Trisuit features a complete flatlock seam construction. So, you won't experience anymore pinching or painful rubbing over your body.
The *2XU Long Distance Women's Trisuit* is available in five sizes from X-Small to X-Large and in the colors Black/black, Bright Emerald/grey, and Indigo/grey.

Price: $52.99 (67% Off!)

*Chrome Southside Shoes*

Image: http://www.backcountry.com/images/items/medium/CRM/CRM0062/BK.jpg
The toils of toe cages will do a number on your shoes. In fact, bicycle commuting is nothing short of devastating on just about everything that you own. With a host of unpredictable elements to engage on every block, it's about time that you take hold of whatever security that you can. We recommend starting at the touch points, and in this instance, the feet. *Chrome*'s *Southside Shoes* not only offer protection from the urban environment, but their throwback skate aesthetic will blend in when you're off of the bike, too.
For the uppers, Chrome made the Southside shoes from an oiled, full-grain leather. And while the leather only offers a minimum of protection from water, the weathering and distressing that occurs with age is priceless. To assure comfort, the Southsides feature a supple, padded collar and tongue to act as a buffer between either your laces, toe cages, or foot straps. The midsole uses a blown rubber wedge to maximize comfort, while the sole has a 100% vulcanized rubber construction. This stiffens up the shoe for a little better power transfer, but mainly, it's to resist the inevitable tattoo of sole wear from your platforms.
The shoes use a lace-up fastening system, and they feature both an embossed and woven Chrome logo on the side of the shoe.

Chrome's Southside Shoes not only offer protection from the urban environment, but their throwback skate aesthetic will blend in when you're off of the bike, too.
The Chrome Southside Shoes are available in whole and half sizes from 5.0 to 13.0 and in the colors Black, Grey, and Tan.

*2XU Active Women's Tri Singlet*

Image: http://www.backcountry.com/images/items/medium/TXU/TXU0221/BONBLUBL.jpg
We've always been fans of the old idiom, 'form follows function.' Luckily, *2XU* is a fan as well. However, where 2XU succeeds where others have failed is in creating an equilibrium between the two. And nowhere is this better demonstrated than with its *Active Women's Tri Singlet*.
The rationale behind the Active Tri singlet's fabric choice is simple. We'll put it this way: If you were to ask ten triathletes to name a cooling fabric, nine out of ten would probably say some form of mesh. No shock there. However, 2XU wasn't going to use just any old mesh composition. Instead, it created the groundbreaking High Fil Mesh fabric. As we alluded to, this material places a dedicated focus on both moisture management and breathability. Although, the process to do so was two fold. For moisture wicking, 2XU used a high filament polyester that was placed with a cross-channeled pattern. Essentially, the fibers naturally work with the pattern in order to pull sweat away and quickly evaporate it at the surface. For breathability, the open cell mesh design allows excess vapor and heat escape from the core. Together, the two attributes work harmoniously to create a consistent level of cooling thermo-regulation.
However, if you do feel overheated during a particularly hard exertion, 2XU incorporated a 3/4 length, semi-autolock front zipper for on-the-fly heat dumps. Additionally, the singlet features an ample rear pocket for storage of your race day nutrition and essentials.
For fit, you'll find that the Active Tri singlet fits a tad bit looser than other 2XU singlets in the Comp or Compression lines. The ideology behind this is that 2XU intends the Active singlet to be used for short course racing. However, you'll still find it to be anatomically conforming to the body, as well as quite stretchable. This is due to its contoured seam placement. Essentially, this feature allows a full-range of flexible movement throughout the various, complex articulations of triathlon. Also, for added support, 2XU included its Internal Shelf Bra.
The *2XU Active Women's Tri Singlet* is available in five sizes from X-Small to X-Large and in the colors Bondi Blue/coastal blue and Deep Purple/blister pink.

Price: $20.99 (67% Off!)
Regularly: $64.95

*2XU Comp Women's Trisuit*

Image: http://www.backcountry.com/images/items/medium/TXU/TXU0217/BLA.jpg
You've spent hour after hour improving your level of fitness -- slugging away lap after lap and mile after mile. Your nutrition is well-regulated and on point, your bike and helmet look akin to space machines, but your apparel is Plain Jane, while it should be delivering as equal of an advantage as the aforementioned. So, instead of skimping where it truly matters, suit up in the *2XU Comp Women's Trisuit* for a drag-reducing, muscle-controlling advantage on land and in the water.
2XU approached the Comp Trisuit with a deliberately even focus across all three disciplines of triathlon. And while a typical recovery compression piece features a material choice around 200 deniers and up, the Trisuit uses a lighter, less constricting 70 denier fabric. This means that you still receive a lightly focused graduated compression, but the most direct gains are made through limiting muscle oscillation. So, whether you're getting slapped by wakes, getting rattled in the saddle, or pummeled by your pounding on the pavement, the Skin X fabric provides an enhanced level of muscle support that will minimize fatigue.
And while this design feature complements all of the triathlon disciplines, Skin X maintains specific advantages both on the land and in the water. Starting with the water aspects, Skin X possesses hydrophobic properties. If your Latin is a little rusty, this means that the material is capable of repelling water during the swim. In fact, the fabric minimizes water retention, which also translates to an equal reduction in hydrodynamic and accelerate drag. But, you're probably wondering how this is possible? Well, Skin X is constructed from a high-density, hydrophobic blend of polyamide and Lycra.
So, 2XU ensured that you'll be blazing into T1, but how does the Trisuit hold up from there? Of course, one of the most pressing issues is riding or running with a wet, bulky chamois -- our bodies cringe merely thinking about it. The approach to alleviating this concern was twofold. First, the chamois has to be substantial enough for support in the saddle, yet it can't be so sizable as to inhibit your swim or run. Secondly, the insert has to remain dry over all three disciplines. Basically, 2XU set out to create the Holy Grail of triathlon chamois, and it did with the exclusive SBR Fleece insert. This chamois uses a variable density design that provides targeted support to pressured nerves, while remaining unnoticeable on foot and in the water. Additionally, 2XU constructed the fleece from a micro-filament polyester yarn with hydrophobic properties. So, neither water or perspiration will bog down the dryness of the fleece.
To ensure the Trisuit's fit, 2XU placed its own non-abrasive, Y elastic leg grippers. Entry and exit of the suit is handled by a rear zipper, and extra breathability and flexibility are handled by the suit's Sensor Mesh X stretch panels along the sides and back. For further comfort, the Comp Trisuit features a complete flatlock seam construction. So, you won't experience anymore pinching or painful rubbing over your body.
The *2XU Comp Women's Trisuit* is available in five sizes from X-Small to X-Large and in the colors Black/black, Bright Emerald/aquamarine, Cornflower Blue/coastal blue, and Indigo/blister pink.

Price: $39.99 (69% Off!)

Castelli constructed the Pioggia Rain Pants out of fully seam-sealed, DWR-treated Torrent fabric for maximum waterproofing. But just because these pants fit over your shorts, doesn't mean they'll slow you down-lower leg closures minimize flapping and a slim fit enhances aerodynamics.
*2XU Comp Women's Tri Shorts*

Image: http://www.backcountry.com/images/items/medium/TXU/TXU0220/BLA.jpg
We acknowledge that nothing replaces the importance of training, but we also acknowledge that preparation is a branch off of the ol' training tree. Accordingly, the selection of your race and training apparel can't be made haphazardly. After all, your competition is very likely making poignant decisions in this department. You need 'free speed,' and an easy way to do so is to utilize the engineering expertise of the Australian innovator, *2XU*. With its *Comp Women's Tri Shorts*, 2XU guarantees unparalleled comfort, anti-oscillating compression, and a drag advantage along every leg of the course.
2XU approached the Comp Tri Shorts with a deliberately even focus across all three disciplines of triathlon. Think about that. What fabric performs equally across the board? And while a typical recovery compression piece features a material choice around 200 deniers and up, the Tri Shorts use a lighter, less constricting 70 denier fabric.
Additionally, 2XU used a ten-panel, anatomic construction to further accentuate your comfort.
2XU ensured that you'll be blazing into T1, but how do the shorts hold up from there? Of course, one of the most pressing issues is riding or running with a wet, bulky chamois -- our bodies cringe merely thinking about it. The approach to alleviating this concern was twofold. First, the chamois has to be substantial enough for support in the saddle, yet it can't be so sizable as to inhibit your swim or run. Secondly, the insert has to remain dry over all three disciplines. Basically, 2XU set out to create the Holy Grail of triathlon chamois, and it did with the exclusive LD insert. This chamois uses a variable density design that provides targeted support to pressured nerves, while remaining unnoticeable on foot and in the water. Additionally, 2XU constructed the chamois from a micro-filament polyester yarn with hydrophobic properties. So, neither water or perspiration will bog down the dryness of the fleece.
Furthering your dryness, 2XU included side panels that are constructed from its highly breathable and stretchable Sensor Mesh X fabric. To ensure the shorts' fit, 2XU placed a large yoga-esque waistband. Additionally, the legs are held in place by 2XU's own, non-abrasive silicone leg grippers. And for further comfort, the Comp Tri Shorts feature a complete flatlock seam construction. So, you won't experience anymore pinching or painful rubbing in your shorts.
The *2XU Comp Tri Shorts* are available in five sizes from X-Small to X-Large and in the colors Black/black, Bright Emerald/aquamarine, Cornflower Blue/coastal blue, and Indigo/blister pink.

We acknowledge that nothing replaces the importance of training, but we also acknowledge that preparation is a branch off of the ol' training tree. Accordingly, the selection of your race and training apparel can't be made haphazardly. After all, your competition is very likely making poignant decisions in this department. You need 'free speed,' and an easy way to do so is to utilize the engineering expertise of the Australian innovator, 2XU. With its Comp Women's Tri Shorts, 2XU guarantees unparalleled comfort, anti-oscillating compression, and a drag advantage along every leg of the course.
2XU approached the Comp Tri Shorts with a deliberately even focus across all three disciplines of triathlon. Think about that. What fabric performs equally across the board? Well, the answer came in the form of development, and from this, the 70D elastane, SBR Skin X fabric was born. We know, we're not fans of titles filled with seemingly arbitrary numbers and letters, either. So, let's make some sense of this fabric. Basically, the '70D' stands for 70 denier. What's a denier? Image: http://www.backcountry.com/images/items/medium/DMA/DMA0129/BK.jpg
If the heralded fit and construction of the DeMarchi Contour Insulator Jacket intrigues you, but you'd rather err on an additional degree of weather protection for the absolute worst your winter training might throw at you, then perhaps the Contour Plus 3L Softshell Stealth Jacket might best suit your needs. Like the Italian label's similarly titled bib tights, DeMarchi engineers have designed this jacket around the minimalist silhouette that ensures maximum protection from chill wind and water, and temperatures dipping as low as 32 degrees Fahrenheit. Think of the Contour Plus 3L garments as a complete system -- a foul-weather suit of armor, without the bulk, if you will.
The 'Stealth' nomenclature in the jacket's title is something of a re-naming convention, due to the jacket's impressive lightness and numerous upgrades from previous 'Race' iterations. Make no mistake though -- with its intelligent and top-performing fabric blend and superlative Contour fit, this is very much a race-ready jacket. As with all of their Contour apparel items, De Marchi gives this a form-following cut. It will bend naturally with your arms and torso as you reach for the drops to explore your mid-winter flexibility. It has a full length zipper with a draft shield built in behind it. This ensures that you won't get a chill through the zipper, and it makes one-handed adjustment easy and snag-free. There's a zipper dock at the top to ensure you won't get pinched, and when you're charging into a headwind, the 5cm collar is tall enough to seal out the chill.
DeMarchi created the jacket around a combination of a three-layer wind and waterproof Thermashield front with a Thermolite Roubaix back -- the latter of which is the next evolution in the vein of the superlative Italian fabric, Super Roubaix. The core of this new, toasty fleece-backed fabric is made from hollow Thermolite fibers which reduce the fabric's overall weight while enhancing its thermal capacity. And when used in conjunction with a windproof front, you'll find there are few inclement temperatures that could adversely affect your training sessions. The outward-facing sides of both of these fabrics are then treated with a protective Teflon application which helps better shield you from wet spray or mud stains.
The DeMarchi Contour Plus 3L Softshell Stealth Jacket comes in White, Black, or the boldly visible Ski Patrol Red, and in six sizes: Small through XXX-Large. Three generous back pockets and an additional zippered security pocket enable you to carry whatever you might need to stay warm and nourished for your pre-season training sessions. Low-profile reflective on the back pocket zipper, the rearward-facing shoulder seams, and at the outside pocket seams ensure an added level of visibility should you be out after dusk.

Price: $84.99 (68% Off!)
Regularly: $269.95

The *Red Eye Mk.2 Light with Long Cable* is a perfect complement for any *Exposure Headlight* with Smart Port Technology Plus. Used with compatible lights, Like the Maxx D, Toro, or Strada, the Red Eye simply plugs into the Smart Port and runs off the built-in battery of the front light. The long cable allows plenty of slack to get from the handlebar mounted headlight to the seatpost where you'll mount the Red Eye rear light on even the biggest sized bike frames. It uses a single Seoul P4 LED to produce 80 Lumens, enough to make you visible to errant drivers.
The *Exposure Red Eye Mk.2 Light with Long Cable* mounts to the seatpost with a tidy plastic cradle and silicone strap. The attachment is tool-free and installs in moments so it's easy to get on or off the bike quickly. The Red Eye benefits from a weatherproof design that includes a CNC machined aluminum housing and a full complement of O-rings just like Exposure's bigger lights. Should you get yours muddy, Exposure recommends cleaning their lights with a soft, damp towel.
Exposure Lights have a two year warranty against defects in materials and workmanship.
